Questions About the Koran

Description

(Note from the day after I posted this: Wow! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. About one day after I drew this, another DA artist drew [link] , and I was given credit for the inspiration.)

Okay, after a few ruined attempts involving Strider Hiryu or the cast of Let Me In, this editorial cartoon is my first finished all-digital freehand 21st century piece of artwork via my new tablet and pen.

I have never used a tablet and pen before. It is frustrating.

On the plus side, my choice of subject matter will probably attract most of the negative snarky criticism away from issues regarding technique, sizing, fuzziness, and a newly-discovered lack of hand-eye coordination. (Also, I'm still having difficulty making kids look like kids.)

BTW, I did have to cheat at the end by using Microsoft Paint for the text and word balloons. I think I misjudged the size of the image while I was drawing it, because the Adobe Photoshop Element 8.0 that came with the tablet and pen refused to let me add text or word balloons.

As for the subject matter, I've had this comic in my head visually for weeks now. In this day and age where everybody has a polarized mentality, I suspect that my choice to exercise my Constitutional freedoms via this comic will still somehow come back to bite me in the ass. Sigh...

(Seriously, folks. Don't assume that just because I feature a Koran in a cartoon that I'm defacing it or attacking Islam.)

From where did you get this?
